J\u00e9sus gu\u00e9rit rarement quelqu\u2019un sans son consentement. L\u2019\u00e9vangile d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui nous raconte la gu\u00e9rison de dix l\u00e9preux qui l\u2019ont appel\u00e9 \u00e0 leur secours. Leur appel a atteint sa corde la plus sensible : sa mis\u00e9ricorde et sa piti\u00e9. Il les renvoie \u00e0 l\u2019application de la loi et, en y allant, ils furent gu\u00e9ris.
Cependant l\u2019un d\u2019eux, un Samaritain, s\u2019apercevant qu\u2019il \u00e9tait gu\u00e9ri, revint sur ses pas et se prosterna aux pieds de J\u00e9sus pour le remercier, reconnaissant ainsi et proclamant la bont\u00e9 et la grandeur de J\u00e9sus. Par cet acte, ce samaritain reconna\u00eet qu\u2019il doit \u00e0 Dieu gratuitement sa gu\u00e9rison et le loue en le remerciant. Face \u00e0 cette simplicit\u00e9, \u00e0 cette modestie et cette reconnaissance, J\u00e9sus lui dit : \u00ab Rel\u00e8ve toi et va ; ta foi t\u2019a sauv\u00e9 \u00bb. Ainsi, Il ressuscite cet homme deux fois. Il le ressuscite dans sa soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et le ressuscite dans la foi.
De nos jours, comme au temps de J\u00e9sus, la gratitude devient une vertu rare. On ne sait plus dire merci. Les hommes croient qu\u2019ils ne doivent rien \u00e0 personne, qu\u2019ils se sont faits eux-m\u00eames. Ils veulent vivre ind\u00e9pendants. Alors qu\u2019en fait ils doivent tout \u00e0 leur milieu et \u00e0 leur soci\u00e9t\u00e9.
C\u2019est la m\u00eame attitude que nous avons aussi envers Dieu. Nous ne cessons, dans nos pri\u00e8res, de lui demander ceci ou cela et nous omettons de le louer, de le glorifier et de le remercier pour les innombrables gr\u00e2ces qu\u2019il nous prodigue.
